Laugarvatn Swimming Pool

The swimming pool at Laugarvatn is a 25-meter outdoor pool. By the pool there are three hot tubs, a cold tub, and a steam bath. The pool was built in 1992 and is part of the university’s sports facilities, which also include a sports hall and an outdoor area with a running track. The pool is open to the public and also serves as a teaching facility for studies in sports and health sciences at the School of Education, University of Iceland. Geothermal energy is used to heat the pool and the facilities as a whole. The pool is located in a sheltered, green environment right by the lake and is within walking distance of the university, accommodation, and other services in Laugarvatn.
