Hofsós Swimming Pool

The swimming pool in Hofsós is located on Suðurbraut in Hofsós in Skagafjörður, on the southern side of the village above Staðarbjargarvík. It was donated to the residents of Hofsós in 2007 and is operated by the Municipality of Skagafjörður. The pool area lies on a slope down towards the sea and faces Drangey and Skagafjörður. The facility is an outdoor swimming pool, 25×10.5 meters in size and 0.8–1.8 meters deep, with traditional changing rooms. The pool temperature is about 30–31°C and in the area there is a hot tub at about 38–39°C. The pool area is designed so that the water surface of the pool visually merges with the sea below when swimming along the length of the pool. The view from the pool is therefore unique and more than justifies a visit. In the vicinity of the pool there is a campsite and other travel and service facilities in Hofsós, including restaurants and accommodation. The swimming pool serves both local residents in their daily sports and leisure activities and visitors to the area.
