Sundlaug Vestmannaeyja

The swimming pool in Vestmannaeyjar was opened on 10 July 1976 and is one of the most diverse and best-equipped pools in the country. The indoor pool is 25 × 11 metres with 0.9% salted water and is equipped with a 1-metre diving board, floating play equipment and various other water toys. In the outdoor area, which was taken into use in spring 2010, there are two hot tubs and a large hot tub with a good view over the children’s play area. There is also a large play pool with a climbing wall, hoops, a children’s slide and a special area for the youngest ones. Two slides just over 20 metres long are in the area, one of which has a built-in trampoline that shoots swimmers out into the main pool. The outdoor area also has a large sun deck. On weekends, the temperature of the main pool is raised from 29.5°C to 31.5°C, which is very popular among families and parents with young children. The facilities are highly accessible for people with mobility impairments and disabled people, with special changing rooms and good wheelchair access. There are also dedicated changing rooms for trans people, non-binary people, intersex people, parents of disabled children and others who need assistance when going swimming. A mobile lift is available for those who want to go into the pool or hot tubs.
