Sundlaug Stykkishólms var tekin í notkun árið 1999 eftir að borað var fyrir heitu vatni við Hofstaði. Laugin naut strax mikilla vinsælda og varð fljótt fastur punktur í bæjarlífinu. Hún er staðsett við Íþróttamiðstöðina á Borgarbraut og býður upp á fjölbreytta aðstöðu bæði úti og inni.

Útisvæðið samanstendur af 25 metra útilaug með 57 metra langri vatnsrennibraut, tveimur heitum pottum, einum köldum potti og vaðlaug fyrir börn. Innandyra er 12 metra kennslulaug sem hentar sérstaklega vel fyrir barnastarf og ungbarnasund. Í heitu pottunum er vatn beint úr Hofstaðaholunni sem er rík af steinefnum og notað til meðferðar við ýmsum húðvandamálum.

Við íþróttamiðstöðina er einnig fjölnota íþróttasalur, líkamsrækt og áhorfendastúka. Sundlaugin er opin allt árið og er góð viðbót við þjónustu bæjarins fyrir bæði heimamenn og ferðafólk.

Stykkishólmur Swimming Pool was opened in 1999 after a hot water borehole was drilled for at Hofstaðir. The pool quickly became very popular and soon turned into a fixed point in the town’s social life. It is located by the Sports Centre on Borgarbraut and offers a variety of facilities both outdoors and indoors.

The outdoor area consists of a 25-metre outdoor pool with a 57-metre-long water slide, two hot tubs, one cold tub and a paddling pool for children. Indoors there is a 12-metre teaching pool that is particularly well suited for children’s activities and baby swimming. In the hot tubs, the water comes directly from the Hofstaðir borehole, which is rich in minerals and used to treat various skin conditions.

At the sports centre there is also a multipurpose sports hall, a gym and a spectator stand. The swimming pool is open all year round and is a good addition to the town’s services for both locals and visitors.
