Ólafsfjörður Swimming Pool

The Ólafsfjörður Swimming Pool is located at Tjarnarstígur 1 in the town center of Ólafsfjörður in Fjallabyggð, next to the sports center and campsite. The pool was built through volunteer work in the years 1943–1945 under the auspices of the sports club Sameining and was inaugurated on July 1, 1945. The area was extensively renovated in 2010 with new outdoor facilities and hot tubs. The main outdoor swimming pool is 8 x 25 meters. In the area there are two hot tubs, about 38° and 40°, one of which has massage equipment, as well as a cold tub and a steam bath. For children there is a separate children’s pool and a small children’s slide, along with a so‑called waterfall pool. There are two water slides on site, one about 3.5 meters long and the other 52.5 meters long. The swimming pool is part of the Fjallabyggð sports center in Ólafsfjörður, where there is also a sports hall and a gym. It serves as a public pool for residents and visitors to the area and is within walking distance of the campsite and other service facilities in the town.
