Húsavík Swimming Pool

Húsavík Swimming Pool is located at Laugarbrekka 2 in Húsavík and is operated by Norðurþing. It is about 100 meters from the campsite, next to the sports field and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, museums, the harbor and other services in Húsavík. The pool and the facilities around it were extensively renovated around the turn of the millennium in 2000, including new changing rooms and improvements to the older building. The main pool is 16.67 meters long, about 6.95 meters wide, with a depth from 0.9 up to 2.5 meters. It is outdoors, and there is also a separate children’s pool with a higher temperature next to it. There are also three hot tubs, one of which is a whirlpool, and the tubs are tiled. During the summer there are two to three water slides in use, depending on conditions. The swimming pool plays an important role in sports and school activities in the area, including swimming instruction for Borgarhólsskóli and swimming courses for preschool children and adults. It is thus closely integrated into the daily sports and leisure life of the residents of Húsavík.
