Gamla laugin, í dag betur þekkt sem Secret Lagoon, er elsta sundlaug Íslands, byggð árið 1891 í Hverahólma við Flúðir. Laugin er náttúrulaug sem nýtir jarðhita beint frá nálægum hverum, þar á meðal Vaðmálahver, Básahver og Litla Geysi, sem gýs á nokkurra mínútna fresti. Vatnið rennur stöðugt í gegnum laugina og endurnýjast á sólarhring, en það er ríkt af brennisteini og öðrum steinefnum. Vatnið heldur 38 til 40°C hitastigi allt árið.

Sögulega hefur Hverahólmi verið mikilvægur baðstaður, bæði til baða og til daglegra nota eins og þvotta. Frá 1909 til 1947 fóru þar fram skipulögð sundnámskeið og margir Sunnlendingar lærðu að synda í lauginni. Eftir það féll hún í gleymsku í nokkra áratugi þar til hún var endurbyggð og opnuð á ný þann 7. júní 2014, með það að markmiði að viðhalda upprunalegu yfirbragði og náttúrulegri upplifun.

Í kringum laugina liggur göngustígur sem gerir gestum kleift að fylgjast örugglega með goshverum og öðrum jarðhitaauðlindum á svæðinu. Við laugina er þjónustuhús með búningsklefum, sturtum og litlu veitinga- og bistrósvæði þar sem boðið er upp á drykki og veitingar.

Gamla laugin er staðsett í hjarta Flúða, á leið Gullna hringsins, og í næsta nágrenni má finna aðra vinsæla áfangastaði á borð við Hrunalaug, Selsvelli og Brúarhlöð. Á svæðinu er fjölbreyttir gistimöguleikar, veitingastaðir og afþreying við hæfi allra.

The Old Pool, today better known as Secret Lagoon, is Iceland’s oldest swimming pool, built in 1891 in Hverahólmi near Flúðir. The pool is a natural hot spring that uses geothermal heat directly from nearby hot springs, including Vaðmálahver, Básahver and Litli Geysir, which erupts every few minutes. Water flows continuously through the pool and is renewed over the course of a day, and it is rich in sulfur and other minerals. The water maintains a temperature of 38 to 40°C all year round.

Historically, Hverahólmi has been an important bathing place, both for bathing and for everyday uses such as washing. From 1909 to 1947, organized swimming lessons were held there, and many people from the South learned to swim in the pool. After that, it fell into obscurity for several decades until it was rebuilt and reopened on June 7, 2014, with the aim of preserving its original character and natural experience.

A walking path runs around the pool, allowing guests to safely observe the geysers and other geothermal features in the area. By the pool there is a service building with changing rooms, showers and a small café and bistro area where drinks and refreshments are offered.

The Old Pool is located in the heart of Flúðir, on the Golden Circle route, and in the immediate vicinity you can find other popular destinations such as Hrunalaug, Selsvellir and Brúarhlöð. The area offers a variety of accommodation options, restaurants and activities suitable for everyone.
