Salalaug

Salalaug, located by Versalir in Kópavogur, is a diverse swimming pool facility suitable for guests of all ages. The pool, which opened in 2005, offers a 25-meter swimming pool with a depth from 1 to 1.6 meters and six competition lanes. The pool temperature is 29°C, and four lanes are usually used for school swimming, training, and general swimming, while two are intended for play and recreational swimming during opening hours. One of Salalaug’s special features is the hot tub with water and air massage jets, as well as three loungers with air massage. The temperature there is about 38°C. The indoor pool measures 16.67 x 10 meters, with a depth from 0.75 to 0.9 meters and a temperature of 33–34°C, making it well suited for infants and younger guests. School swimming for younger children also takes place there. In the area there are two hot tubs, with temperatures of 38°C in one and 42°C in the other. The waterslide in Salalaug is designed like a lazy river and starts in a small pool heated to 34°C. The slide ends in a current channel that encircles an island in the landing pool. A so-called water organ with 40 jets sprays water with varying force and is a fun and unique addition to the facilities. Salalaug is part of a sports center with a 4,095 m² sports hall that houses the gymnastics facilities of the sports club Gerpla. The center offers families, swimmers, and those seeking relaxation in a cozy environment a wide range of options for exercise and leisure.
