Krauma

Krauma is a bathing lagoon by Deildartunguhver in Reykholtsdal, about an hour’s drive from Reykjavík. There are six pools – five hot and one cold – which are filled exclusively with pure water from the hot spring, cooled down using heat exchangers. No chemicals are used; hygiene is ensured by the constant flow of hot water from Deildartunguhver – the most voluminous hot spring in Europe. The facilities at Krauma consist of pools with different temperatures, a relaxation room with a fireplace and tranquil surroundings, a steam bath and an infrared bath. The design emphasizes natural materials and simplicity, and the pool itself is shallow, where guests sit rather than swim. There is a restaurant on site offering light dishes, coffee and sides, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. Krauma is open to the public and is suitable both for travelers who want to stop by for peace and relaxation and for guests staying in the area.
