Dalslaug

Dalslaug, located in Úlfarsárdalur in Reykjavík, is the newest swimming pool in the city, opened on 11 December 2021. It is part of a larger cultural and sports center that serves the residents of Grafarholt and Úlfarsárdalur. In the design of the pool and during the construction process, emphasis was placed on sustainability, minimal maintenance needs, and a healthy environment for guests. The outdoor pool is 25 meters long with six lanes and a temperature of 29°C, making it suitable for general swimming, competitions, and training. Next to it is an indoor pool, 12.5 meters long, which is well for younger swimmers. In the outdoor area there is a wading pool with 37°C warm water and a large family hot tub, making the facilities suitable for families. The area also includes three hot tubs with different temperatures, from 38°C up to 42°C, and a cold tub with a temperature of 8–10°C. The steam bath, which is shared by men and women, offers warm humidity at 40–45°C. In November 2023, two water slides were installed as an addition to the facilities. The slides, named Úlfur and Ylfa, are enclosed tube slides with light strips inside. Úlfur is 10 meters high and 65 meters long, while Ylfa is 5 meters high and 35 meters long. The names were chosen in a competition among residents and pool guests, and the slides have already become popular. Dalslaug is accessible to everyone, with a lift for wheelchair users to get into the pool and good facilities in other respects. It is family-friendly, modern, and has already become one of Reykjavík’s most popular swimming pools. With an emphasis on sustainability and diverse recreation, Dalslaug is both a destination for relaxation and for sports activities.
