Breiðholtslaug Swimming Pool

Breiðholtslaug is located at Gerðuberg in Breiðholt, near the local schools in the neighborhood. The pool was originally built as a school swimming pool and officially opened in 1981. It offers a wide range of facilities for guests of all ages, with both outdoor and indoor pools, hot tubs, water slides, and steam baths. The main pool is 25 meters with five lanes and a temperature of 29°C. In addition, there is a 12.5×8 meter indoor pool with water heated to 30°C and a similar outdoor pool with a temperature of 32°C. The outdoor wading pool is 3×4 meters in size and 35–37°C warm, making it well suited for younger guests. There are three hot tubs on site, including a massage tub with water heated to 39°C and two tubs with temperatures of 38–40°C and 41–44°C. There is also a cold tub with a temperature of 8–12°C and a good steam room and sauna. The two water slides are popular among children and are 25 and 30 meters in length. In addition, there is playground equipment and a smaller children’s slide. Breiðholtslaug is easily accessible for people with mobility impairments, with a lift to enter the pool and wheelchair access to the sauna. The pool has received the City of Reykjavík’s Rainbow Certification, confirming its support for the LGBT+ community.
